Question:   What are the test procedures for measuring Digital Transmission System (DTS) devices subject to the requirements in Section 15.247?

Test procedures for measuring Digital Transmission System (DTS) are provided in the attachment 558074 D01 DTS Meas Guidance v04 and in Clause 11 of ANSI C63.10-2013.

The publication version 558074 D01 DTS Meas Guidance v03 was used in the development of the DTS measurement procedures in ANSI C63.10-2013. Following the publication of ANSI C63.10-2013, it has become necessary to clarify some of the specific DTS measurement procedures. Clarifications to the measurement procedures are provided in 558074 D01 DTS Meas Guidance v04 (see the change notice for a summary of the updates to the procedures).

The Commission revised the rules for DTS devices in the 5725-5850 MHz band operating under Section 15.247 rules (FCC 14-30). Since June 2, 2014, DTS devices operating in this band must comply with the new rules under Part 15 Subpart E.

Permissive changes to already approved devices under the old 15.247 rules for 5725-5850 MHz band devices were allowed under the same rules until June 1, 2016. Since June 2, 2016, permissive changes have not been permitted for such devices unless they meet the requirements of the new rules and the guidance provided in KDB Publication 789033.

For further information on permissive changes and marketing restrictions on devices approved under the old rules, see KDB Publication 926956.
