Keyword: Measurement of Leaky Coax Video Distribution System

First Category: Unlicensed Service Rules and Procedures
Second Category: General Part 15 Transmitters (UnLic)

Question:   What is the preferred measurement method and equipment setup for a Leaky Coax Video Distribution System?

Answer:
To qualify for Part 15 Certification, systems employing leaky coax antennas must be measured at three installations as defined in Section 15.31(d). If only one installation is available for measurement, the authorization will apply to the measured location only. To demonstrate compliance with the radiated emission limits along the leaky coax antenna (including repeaters), measurements may be performed in two steps. First, by performing a quick pass along the cable and its repeaters while noting the location of any hot spots (maximum radiated fields).  Then at the hot spots noted in step one, maximize emissions by varying the measurement antenna height and polarization. With this approach, the maximized emission measurements can be limited to several points along each section of coax.
