Keyword: SAR values in user manual

First Category: RF Exposure *
Second Category: SAR (RF Exposure)

Question:   Does the FCC require SAR values to be specified in user manuals?

Answer:

Listing of SAR values in user manuals or operating instructions is not mandatory. However, when SAR numbers are included, the information must be correct and consistent with those listed on the equipment certification grant. In some cases, when operating restrictions are necessary (for example, for use of body-worn accessories), the operating conditions and required minimum separation distance between the user and a wireless device must be clearly specified in the manual instructions for ensuring compliance.

KDB Publication 690783 provides guidance for listing SAR values on equipment certification grants. Additional information is available in KDB Publication 447498.
