Answer: Yes, we would consider systems, as described in the attached letter, with signal containment and virtual waveguide feature as Class B unintentional radiators under our Part 15 rules and subject to the following conditions:
1) Devices must have proper alignment detection and interlocking mechanism prior to activating transmitters. Such transmission should cease immediately if the devices are separated.
2) The device integration and installation instructions must make clear that the interlocking mechanisms cannot be overridden by hardware or software.
3) The frequency range of radiated testing must be in accordance with 47 C.F.R. ยง 15.33(a)(3); the upper frequency of measurement range is the 5th harmonic of the highest fundamental frequency or 200 GHz whichever is lower.
4) The device must meet the emission limits for Class B unintentional radiators specified in 47 C.F.R. Part 15 Subpart B. |
