Keyword: Part 101 - Fixed Microwave Service, 24 GHz Emission Mask

First Category: Radio Service Rules
Second Category: Microwave Services Parts 21,74,101

Question:   What are the emission mask requirements for 24 GHz Microwave transmission operating under 47 CFR Part 101?

Answer:   The emission limitations for Fixed Microwave Transmitters are contained in 47 CFR 101.111.  The zero dB reference is the total power in the (40 MHz) band per channel. This is equivalent to a power meter reading of the average (mean) level. Per the (new) Section 101.111(a)(2)(iv), emission attenuation requirements (dBc) begins at the 40 MHz band (channel) edges - this is equivalent to use of 40 MHz as B regardless of what the actual occupied bandwidth is. The 1 MHz RBW setting is used to measure emissions outside the band edge. (i.e. signals more that +/- 50% of 40 MHz (or 20 MHz) removed from the center of the assigned channel.
