Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
Hermeus is applying for this license to conduct a systems field test to validate several RF systems needed for a future flight demonstration of its prototype small autonomous hypersonic aircraft platform. The test will last no longer than 60 days and does not require the license period of a full Part 5 experimental license.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Test will involve an aircraft taxiing at low-speed down the runway at Arnold AFB, and among other things, will test basic radar altimeter and VHF communications functions. The aircraft will not take flight during the test. Tests will be conducted over a 30-day period between September 28th 2023 and November 28th 2023. Testing will occur for about 2 days each week, with transmissions for about 1-2 hours per test day.
