Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
We require an STA for a number of reasons: 1) We are a research group at UC Berkeley and would save a great amount of time by operating in this area. 2) Our research will be iterative, and will require new setups on the scale of 6 months.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Testing for OpenBTS project The Technology and Infrastructure for Emerging Regions (TIER) group at UC Berkeley aims to address the challenges in bringing the Information Technology revolution to the masses of the developing regions of the world. We are currently investigating the use of the OpenBTS project to provide lightweight GSM basestations for areas that are currently underserved by traditional telcos. Towards this end, we hope to deploy and test our basestation ideas in the Berkeley area.
