Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This STA is necessary for national security purposes. The US and its allies in NATO have a need for reliable beyond line of sight (BLOS) communications as a backup to satellite communications (SATCOM) for defense systems. The coordinator of the 29th NATO BLOS Comms Capability Team Meeting, to be held 5-6 Feb. in San Diego, CA, has requested a demonstration and test of the Low Power Troposcatter Radio’s (LPTR) capability in fulfilling this backup function on a 94-mile link between Point Vicente in Los Angeles County and the sight of the 29th NATO BLOS Comms Capability Team Meeting, which is the offices of TrellisWare Technologies in San Diego, CA. This license is being applied for to perform the requested demonstration. In addition to the US, representatives from the following NATO countries will be in attendance: Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, Australia, United Kingdom, Greece, Denmark, Italy and Canada.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  TrellisWare plans to perform LPTR units operate in full duplex mode in 2 days of testing on Feb. 5 and 6, 2025. Additional tests may be required, depending on NATOs needs. The LPTR units operate in full duplex mode, which requires the use of two frequencies, one for each of the two directions of transmission between the two sites. For the frequency full-duplex link, the transmit frequency for one side of the link is taken from 5,930 – 6,109 MHz, and the transmit frequency for the other is taken from 6,182 – 6,361 MHz. TrellisWare plans to perform 2 days of testing on Feb. 5 and 6, 2025. Additional tests may be required, depending on NATOs needs. The point of contact from the 29th NATO BLOS Comms Capability Team Meeting for this experiment is: COL (Ret. US Army) Garth K. Winterle DE: +49 152 02837561 US: +1 (443) 616-3126 (text preferred) gwinterle@trellisware.com
