Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This operation is a non-recurring service where regular authorization is not appropriate and is to be conducted through the requested dates. The proposed operation will demonstrate and work with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, New Jersey, to use these devices to develop and evaluate a UAS tracking within Ocean County primarily on the coast. Because approval of the proposed license will contribute to the development of new technology, the proposed license is consistent with the public interest.

Purpose of Operation

This operation is a non-recurring service where regular authorization is not appropriate. Location Mobile: The proposed operation will be within 100 km, centered around 39°3738.33N 74°252.82W. However, since the ELS system will not provide a way to input multiple GPS coordinates to define and specify the operating area, the following will be the actual operation area which encompasses the above center point (see attached map): 40°2624.31N, 73°5327.13W 39°4535.50N, 74° 40.59W 39°2258.02N, 74°190.12W 38°3711.65N, 75° 02.74W 38°5049.73N, 75° 84.64W 39°4416.99N, 74°3425.31W 40°350.50N, 74°1557.91W The applicant proposes to demonstrate up to eight (8) devices total under this requested license. The applicant will use these devices to demonstrate and evaluate a system with the Ocean County Sheriffs Department for detecting UAS activity. This is intended to assess for support of the Ocean County Sheriff Department counter, UAS unit. No directed energy / RF jamming /electronic attacks will occur.
