Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
This operation is a non-recurring service where regular authorization is not appropriate, to be conducted through the requested dates. The proposed partners NYPD New York Police Department and Nightingale will use these devices to develop and evaluate a system to enable beyond visual line of site drone operations. Because approval of the proposed license will contribute to the development of new technology, the proposed license is consistent with the public interest.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  This operation is a non-recurring service where regular authorization is not appropriate, to be conducted through the requested dates. Operation Description: Site 1 Fixed: 40°4016.21N. 73°5252.35W New York City Police Department - 75th Precinct 1000 Sutter Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11208 Site 2 Fixed: 40°3855.24N 73°570.14W New York City Police Department - 67th Precinct 2820 Snyder Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11226 The applicant proposes to test up to eight (8) devices total, four (4) at each location under this requested license. The proposed partner, Nightingale will use these devices to test and evaluate a system with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) for detecting general aviation aircraft within the airspace. This is intended to support future beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) drone operations.
