Explanation
Please explain in the area below why an STA is necessary:
The POWDER mobile and wireless platform operators and Mavenir engineers plan to commence preliminary experiments operating POWDER and Mavenir equipment (as specified below). This STA application applies to our immediate investigations; any subsequent operation is anticipated to be covered by future application(s) to be filed according to 47 CFR 5.54 (a) (1) and/or 5.54 (c), as appropriate. This application is closely related to filing 1789-EX-ST-2022 (for station WU9XQI), and involves operation of equivalent equipment under the same project; the primary distinction between the two applications is the difference in location.

Purpose of Operation
Please explain the purpose of operation:  Testing POWER and Mavenir equipment. The POWDER mobile and wireless research platform (one of the PAWR facilities, https://advancedwireless.org), built and operated by the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, is collaborating with Mavenir, an American telecommunications software company, to perform 3700-3800 MHz testing of Mavenir’s Open RAN equipment in the University of Utah campus portion of the POWDER wireless testbed in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mavenir radio units (RUs) will be deployed on POWDER rooftop locations on the University of Utah campus and will be combined with other POWDER infrastructure and equipment to realize end-to-end 5G configurations that will be used to perform a number of different tests.
