SES Americom, Inc. requests authority to operate the SES-3 space station at the 103.0º W.L. orbital location to provide Fixed-Satellite Service (FSS) and Direct-to-Home (DTH) service in the 3700-4200 MHz (space-to-Earth), 5925-6425 MHz (Earth-to-space), 11.7-12.2 GHz (space-to-Earth), and 14.0-14.5 GHz (Earth-to-space) frequency bands. SES Americom states that SES-3 will replace the AMC-1 space station, Call Sign S2445, currently operating at 103.0º W.L. in these frequency bands. SES-3 also contains a 17/24 GHz Broadcasting-Satellite Service (BSS) payload, which is capable of operating in the 24.75-25.25 GHz (Earth-to-space) and 17.3-17.8 GHz GHz (space-to-Earth) frequency bands. SES Americom does not seek operational authority for this 17/24 GHz BSS payload as part of this application.
