Box 364 HANNIBAL, MO 63401 (573) 221-3400 The Honorable Mignon Clyburn Acting Chairwoman Federal Communications Commission 445 12th Street, SW Washington, DC 20554 Dear Chairwoman Clyburn: I write to you regarding the pending application before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), related to Softbank and Sprint. I encourage the FCC to make an immediate determination as to whether the pending application is in the public interest. Sprint and Softbank's application has been before the FCC for over 180 days. During this time, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States completed its review and determined the merger raises no national security concerns. The Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Department of Homeland Security looked into potential national security, law enforcement, public safety and supply chain issues and have no objections. Finally, last week, Sprint shareholders approved Softbank's offer. A merger between Sprint and Softbank could be good for both the Kansas City area which I represent part of - and the nation as a whole. For employees who live and work in the Kansas City area, the deal could bring more stability to Sprint and could lead to considerable job growth. Additionally, customers could see better and faster service. The nation as a whole could benefit from expanded consumer choice and innovation. I appreciate your consideration of my request and views on this matter. Please contact me or JP Mason of my staff at 202-225-7041 if you require additional information. PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER
