 DATES  EXTENDED  FOR  FILING  COMMENTS  AND  REPLY  COMMENTS  ON  TELEMARKETING  RULES 
 Comments  due  December  9,  2002;  reply  comments  due  January  8,  2003 
 Washington,  DC  –  On  September  18,  2002,  the  FCC  released  a  Notice  of  Proposed  Rulemaking  (NPRM)  and  Memorandum  Opinion  and  Order  in  CG  Docket  No.  02-  278,  seeking 
 comments  on  whether  it  should  change  its  rules  that  restrict  telemarketing  calls  and,  if  so,  how.  The  due  dates  for  comments  and  reply  comments  were  November  22,  2002  and  December  9, 
 2002,  respectively. 
 By  Order  adopted  November  19,  2002,  the  Consumer  &  Governmental  Affairs  Bureau  (CGB)  granted,  in  part,  and  denied,  in  part,  a  motion  filed  by  the  American  Teleservices 
 Association  (ATA)  to  extend  the  period  of  time  for  filing  comments  and  reply  comments.  The  comment  deadline  has  been  extended  until  December  9,  2002.  The  reply  comment  date  has 
 been  extended  until  January  8,  2003.  Comments  should  be  filed  according  to  the  instructions  provided  in  the  NPRM.
