MISSION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE COMMITTEE The mission of the Committee is to make recommendations to the Commission regarding consumer issues within the jurisdiction of the Commission and to facilitate the participation of consumers (including underserved populations, such as Native Americans, persons living in rural areas, older persons, people with disabilities, and persons for whom English is not their primary language) in proceedings before the Commission. The Committee may consider issues including, but not limited to, the following topics: ? Consumer protection and education; ? Implementation of Commission rules and consumer participation in the FCC rulemaking process; and, ? The impact of new and emerging communication technologies (including availability and affordability of broadband service and Universal Service programs). The duties of the Committee will include providing guidance to the Commission, to gather data and information, and to perform those analyses that are necessary to respond to the questions or matters before it. MEETING DATE, TIME, AND AGENDA The next meeting of the Committee will take place on Monday, October 26, 2015, from 2:00.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Commission’s headquarters building, Room 4B516, 445 12 th Street, S.W., Washington, DC 20554. At its October 26, 2015 meeting, the Committee will consider a recommendation from its Open Internet Order Consumer Disclosure Task Force regarding a proposed Open Internet enhanced transparency rule disclosure format as required by the Open Internet Order. 1 It is also expected that the Committee will consider a recommendation presented by its Universal Service Working Group regarding modernization of the Lifeline program. A limited amount of time will be available on the agenda for comments from the public. The meeting is open to the public, and the site is fully accessible to people using wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
